the irrefutable PROBLEM

Smart phones are not made for kids.

Children are more connected than ever, but with that comes greater exposure to harmful content and people online, especially through social media platforms.

97

of UK children own a smart phone by the time they reach the age of 12.

75

of teenagers have experienced one or more form of online harm.

60

of children aged 8 to 12 who use social media have their own profile.

a tangled web of complexity

Wiring kids brains

Addictive algorithms
Devices and apps are made to be irresistible. This compounds issues of unintentional usage, sleep disruption and excessive interactions that hinder the development of children's essential social skills.
Hooked on social media
Exposes young children to harmful content, cyberbullying and privacy risks. Negatively impacting mental and emotional well-being. Social media networks allow six billion strangers into your home.
Excessive screentime
Scientifically proven to wire young children's brain cortex. Detrimental effects on perception, thought, memory, language, attention and consciousness which hinders social development and academic performance.
Relentless harassment
Unmonitored access can make children vulnerable to cyberbullying, harassment or online abuse from peers / strangers. Digital anonymity heightens children's exposure to problematic people and online risks.
Inappropriate content
Children can stumble upon or actively seek out age-inappropriate content, including violence, explicit material, or hate speech, which can negatively impact their emotional and psychological development.
Online stranger danger
Open user groups and social media platforms expose children to the risk of online predators who can exploit their vulnerabilities. Online manipulation can lead to serious safety and psychological issues.

Expert endorsement

#1 parenting error is giving your child a smart phone. Luckily there is a solution which will protect the long-term growth and development of your child. Rookie has that solution with the first phone and you would be insane not to look at it for your child.

Rather than unintentionally handing down the dangers that come with a smart phone, make the smart choice as a parent and prioritise your child's well-being. The first(1) phone provides total digital safety and will give parents complete peace of mind.

A note from our team

We believe many parents are angry.

They feel guilty for unintentionally handing down addictive devices and technology to their most loved ones. It's not parents fault.
All devices, apps and social media platforms are designed to be addictive.

As individuals we are beyond disappointed.

We believe every technology company can and should do better. Instead they choose profits over social responsibility, and dollars over sense. They've used peoples' naivety as their biggest weapon.

So we, as a team and community, are doing something about it.

The time is now.
